In contrast, Tim's character experiences isolation and separated by Millie, who’s the cause they’ve moved to the country and distant from his support system. He fears the idea of totally forfeiting his sense of self in Millie. This fear is amplified by the reality he does not operate a vehicle and needs Millie for transportation.
The director's cleverest decision is that he avoids making one partner or the other the definite antagonist.
